I should probably rename my blog “I Heart Ebooks” because my ebook buying has taken a drastic step up from my paperback buying over the past year. I find myself with a folder full of ebooks and I’m at a bit of a loss for the best way to sort them. Should I sort them by category (fiction, nonfiction, history, etc), by genre and sub-genre (paranormal, mystery/suspense, romance, etc)? Should I separate all my erotica and romances by content (m/m, m/f, f/f, menage) or just throw them all together in a folder and sort them by author (what about the authors who write both m/m and m/f – do they get a folder in each section)? The more I try to keep them organized, the more frustrated I get in trying to find a good way to do so. So I’m asking all my fellow ebook readers:
How do you sort your ebooks?

I’ve been trying the “simple is best” route lately.
Romance to read
Gay to read
SciFi to read
Books read
It’s been working for me so far, but we’ll see how long I can stand to have them all mixed up like that.
I have a M/M To Be Read folder, but it’s getting way too full to handle anymore. Ugh. I know I need to do something because in the past few months I’ve accidentally bought 3 ebooks I already had. Double ugh. :-)
I’ve found a really great way to make sure I don’t double buy because, yeah, been there.
I use LibraryThing and imput everything the moment I buy it. Physical or ebook it goes in right away. It’s saved me more than a few times.
Good luck on getting your folder organized!
I have mine saved in a folder entitled… ebooks lol. Inside that folder I have the books sorted into folder by author. I also have folders for Multi-author series, anthologies, and for review (which then gets filed in the proper folder after i’ve read it and written the review for FAR). I keep track of everything on an excel spreadsheet. I’m completely anal about it. I have my print and ebook collection listed together.
