My Rating System
I use a purely subjective 5-star rating system that reflects my overall enjoyment of a book, both at the time of review and in comparison to other books in the same genre. Some of the factors that affect my enjoyment of a book include, but are not limited to, writing style, plot and character development, my mood, and the amount of attention my 2 year old allows me to give to a book.

– Exceptional. A superior read that will have a permanent home in my bookcase.

– Excellent. An almost perfect read.

– Great. A highly recommended read.

– Good. An enjoyable and above average read.

– Fair. Fair. Worth reading. May be of particular interest to fans of the genre.

– Poor. Too flawed to truly enjoy. May have finished it just to see if things improved.

– DNF. So many flaws that I could not finish it.
Don’t let my ratings keep you from reading a book you’re interested in. Remember that my ratings are my own personal opinions and, as such, shouldn’t be taken too seriously by anyone. :-)
