Review Guide

Review Policy

Overall, my aim here is to write an honest review that will give a reader an idea of whether they will like a book or not. The star rating I assign to a book is based on my overall enjoyment of the book in comparison to other books I’ve read in the same genre. Some of the factors that may effect my enjoyment of a book include, but are not limited to, personal taste, plot and character development, and how well I thought the author told the story. Since the star ratings are purely subjective – one reader’s two star read may be another’s five star keeper – I have saved the star rating until the end of the review to de-emphasize it. The following is an outline of what each rating means to me.

– Outstanding. One for the keeper shelf.

– Great. An almost perfect read.

– Very good. A recommended read.

– Good. An enjoyable, above average read.

– Fair. Flawed, but may be worth reading for the right person.

– Poor. Too many significant flaws to truly enjoy.

– Very poor. Not the read for me and possibly something I did not finish.
