BOOK BLURB:
Sheriff Jeremiah Bates likes his quiet life in Dry Oaks, Montana, but when a cattle drive hits town, he expects the “usual lot of drinkin’, gamblin’, whorin’ cow hands”. What he doesn’t expect, however, are the feelings aroused in him by cowboy Duke Milo.

REVIEW:
I’ve just finished it and my overall impression is that the writing is simple and concise and that the Sheriff is a bit of a dirty old man! Bates brings a drunken Duke home with him after offering him a bath, a meal, and a bed for the night. He insists that Duke take a bath before dinner and proceeds to watch while the younger man bathes.

“Stand up and let me look ya over and see if you missed any parts.”

Duke did as I asked and I took great pleasure in inspecting his nearly flawless body. He looked even more handsome without the two-inch layer of dirt and grime.

At first, I thought Bates was attempting to manipulate an impaired Duke into bed with him, but, thankfully, that wasn’t quite the case. In the end, Bates makes his interest known and leaves things open for Duke to make his own decision. The conclusion is actually rather sweet, if straight-forward. I was impressed with the clear writing style so I’m looking forward to reading more from this author.
